If you have a good ear for music that is half the battle to
singing in tune however most singers that sing out of tune is due to lack of
technique.
Does it make any difference
what type of music I am singing?
There are many different styles of singing from opera to pop
to country music but the breathing techniques for singers is just as important in all
styles
Do I need singing
lessons?
Many great singers today have never had a lesson in their
life however we all have different levels of talent where as some people need lessons others
don’t. Its odd really I have known great singers that sometimes have taken lessons quite
later on in their singing career its never to late to learn.
How do I get
started with breathing techniques for singers?
One of the most popular breathing techniques is to stand with
your feet apart to match your hips and relax your body and look straight ahead in an upright
position. When you have achieved this position close your eyes and take deep breathes and
hold and release your breathe very slowly do this several times and make sure you keep your
shoulders back.
This exercise should be performed as a warm up when you are
adapting this technique to singing a smart thing is to look at the words and sentences very
carefully and take a deep enough breathe to get through the musical phrase.
Most people that
sing out of tune are lacking in breathing techniques. If you take a breath in the middle of a
musical phrase this is why many singers are out of tune.
Another hot tip is to listen to really good singers and you
will recognize in most cases they have spent a great deal of time learning to breathe
properly when singing.
